After the end of the Hellacopters, Nicke Andersson went back to his roots – his Death Breath project brought back memories of the glorious days of Entombed, while with The Solution, he expressed his love for soul-influenced Detroit Motor City rock ‘n’ roll. Imperial State Electric now follows a similar direction. The difference is that the (later) Hellacopters’ 70s rock is regaining influence, the solos are more expansive, and distortion has made a comeback. And let’s not forget, Mr. Andersson has always been a big fan of Kiss.
