Description
Having cut his punk teeth inΒ Crass, Steve IgnorantβsΒ latest project βΒ Slice Of LifeΒ β allows for the more contemplative side of his song-writing to reveal itself. Like musical depictions of a British kitchen-sink drama, the songs provide vivid vignettes of the everyday. Both personal and universal,Β Slice of LifeΒ present ruminations from the bar stool honed on the late-night walk home. Musically, the band is built on an acoustic arrangement of piano, guitar and bass.
Steveβs songwriting had been an influence onΒ Sleaford ModsβΒ Jason Williamson who became an instant fan ofΒ Slice of LifeΒ and requested they support them on theirΒ Key MarketsΒ tour. Each show would start withΒ Mark Wynn, followed byΒ Slice of LifeΒ and ending with theΒ Sleaford ModsΒ playing to capacity crowds. On and off stage the tour was a huge success and clearly showed what could be achieved when working with like minded people.
This albumΒ βLive at the Forum 2015βΒ will give a taste of that tour and will show that having shed the punk noise that defined Crass,Β Slice of LifeΒ retain the emotional impact and compassion that has long distinguished Steveβs work.
With preparations underway for a second studio album it was decided the pressing should be limited, so itβs available as one-off pressing of just 300 copies.
The album contains four live tracks which have yet to be recorded.

Carol Hodge β Piano, backing vocals
