Description

From the mist of the legendary phantom island of San Borondón rises the new album by the masked trio known only as Mr. Rosa, Mr. Verde, and Mr. Rojo — aliases borrowed from Reservoir Dogs to keep their true identities under wraps. For more than a decade, these mysterious figures have been igniting stages with their wild, volcanic brand of instro-surf, and now they return with San Borondón, a full-length co-release between Sweet Grooves Records (Cáceres) and Malpaís Records (Lanzarote), out October 10th.

This new chapter is an ode to volcanic instrumental surf, but also a journey across the borders of psychobilly, garage, and sweaty punk.
If Dick Dale is the spiritual father of surf music, then The Cramps are the wayward uncles who taught everyone how to break the rules — and The Bucannan clearly learned that lesson well.

Wild surf. Sweaty psychobilly. Tropical exotica. Alternative cinema drenched in adrenaline.

The record opens with “Confital Bay” and “Surfin Remudas” — two instrumental blasts that could soundtrack a knife fight between mobsters and surfers filmed by Tarantino in the ravines of Gran Canaria. Side B kicks off with “Baptisterio Sisters”, a delirious tribute to cult television, complete with a wink to the mythical Hermanas del Baptisterio and their existential mantra: “¿A quién no le va a gustar un baptisterio romano?” Here, the drums don’t accompany — they strike, crash, and roar like the Atlantic in full storm.

Elsewhere, “Revolcón” and “Guayota” dive into salty, feverish psychobilly, as if the ocean itself were thrashing to the rhythm of a pagan ritual, while “Ola Loca” and “Killer Alien” summon the spirit of the volcano with razor-sharp, reverb-drenched guitars fired at infernal speed.

The album closes with “Macaronesia” — pure exotica built from hypnotic bongos, tropical grooves, and the scent of a cocktail served on a hidden cove.
San Borondón isn’t just a record — it’s an island that appears when you least expect it… and pulls you deep into the tide.
