THE FLAMING SIDEBURNS: Scandinavian Riot (2000–2003)

Scandinavian Riot (2000–2003) dives into the rawest and most explosive years of The Flaming Sideburns — and stands as the second volume in a three-LP series marking the band’s 30th anniversary. This collection brings together the Finnish firestarters’ rarest recordings and unreleased moments from the golden age of the so-called Scandinavian Action Rock scene.

At the turn of the millennium, the Nordics were burning bright. Sweden had The Hellacopters, The Nomads, The Hives, and The Soundtrack of Our Lives; Gluecifer and Turbonegro were shaking Norway; Baby Woodrose was rising from Denmark. Right in the middle of it all stood The Flaming Sideburns — tearing up stages across the region with their blend of soulful garage punk and unapologetic rock’n’roll swagger.

This LP gathers sought-after tracks, alternate versions, and previously unheard recordings from that legendary era — capturing the spirit of a scene that helped define the sound of a generation.

It opens with four tracks from the 2000 White Trash Soul split with The Hellacopters (including the previously unreleased version of Let Me Go), then moves through sessions from Hallelujah Rock’n’Rollah (2001) and Sky Pilots (2003), revealing alternate takes of Flowers, Sweet Sound of L-U-V, and early demos of Invisible Hands, Drive On, and Submarine Sensation.

Also featured are long-lost outtakes such as Swimming in Bombay and Glad to Have You Back, plus Zombie Shitheel— a raw, spontaneous tribute to Finnish underground icon Ilari “Claude” Peltola of Smack and The Fishfaces, previously unreleased.

Compiled by the band together with Chaputa! Records and producer Jürgen Hendlmeier — who recorded all tracks included here — Scandinavian Riot (2000–2003) offers a full-throttle ride through the band’s formative years, when the garages of Helsinki, Stockholm, Oslo, and Copenhagen all seemed to hum on the same dirty frequency.

Rare takes. Early versions. Lost anthems.
Turn it up and relive the riot.
