The Barcelona power trio The LIZARDS return to the fray with “Vicious Circle,” the first preview of their fifth album, Below the Surface (Adrenalin Fix Music, Beluga Records, Ghost Highway Recordings, Love Me Like A Reptile), set for release on March 6. And no, they haven’t decided to soften the blow: they’re still delivering that punk rock with a rock’n’roll edge that hits straight in the gut and keeps rattling the ribs.
Formed by Carla Santacreu (vocals and guitar), Judith Jordan (bass), and Edgar Beltri (drums), The Lizards have spent over a decade championing a raw sound—one that doesn’t shy away from melody but never compromises. Their new single works as a conceptual introduction to the upcoming LP: a dive into the spiral of intrusive thoughts, those mental loops that feed themselves until they become a true “vicious circle.” Musically, it’s a full-on storm of blazing riffs, relentless rhythm, and a tension that translates into pure electricity on stage.
Below the Surface will mark a new chapter for the band, and its title is anything but accidental: the album explores the need to go beyond the superficial in a world driven by immediacy and posturing. Without unnecessary embellishments, The LIZARDS go for direct songs and a clearly defined sonic identity, consolidating their creative maturity after more than a hundred shows on their last tour.
