Description

16 bands. 16 garage-punk gems.

Still Primitive marks Chaputa!’s 100th release. To celebrate, we’ve gone back to the record that lit the fuse for so many of us: Greg Shaw’s Get Primitive – The Best of Pebbles Vol. 1 (1984). That compilation opened the door to a whole universe of 60s garage punk — raw, noisy, and wonderfully out of step with everything around it.

Four decades on, sixteen bands from across the globe take on the same sixteen tracks: mid-60s garage classics re-recorded today with all the bite, grit, and wildness that made them timeless in the first place.

These fuzz-soaked tunes were never museum pieces. They became standards — and they still breathe, snarl, and swing. Still alive. Still kicking. Still Primitive.

Artwork inspired by Rudi Protrudi’s original Get Primitive sleeve and reimagined for this edition by Rui Ricardo.
